Driver issued 90-day driving prohibition after Colwood rollover crash

A 36-year-old driver has been issued multiple driving prohibitions after a rollover collision on Veterans Memorial Parkway in Colwood.

A 36-year-old driver has been issued multiple driving prohibitions after a rollover collision on Veterans Memorial Parkway in Colwood. West Shore RCMP responded to the single-vehicle crash near the Carindale intersection at 3:28 p.m. on July 16. Police say a Ford F-150 left the road, hit the shoulder and rolled onto its passenger side.

The driver was removed from the truck and assessed by BC Emergency Health Services for injuries that were not considered life-threatening. While speaking with the driver, officers said they noticed signs that led them to conduct a roadside breath test. The test resulted in a “warn” reading.

The driver was issued a three-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition and the truck was impounded. During the investigation, officers also found the vehicle was uninsured. The driver was issued a violation ticket for operating an uninsured vehicle and received an additional 90-day driving prohibition.

“Impaired driving continues to put everyone on our roads at risk and is entirely preventable,” said Cpl. Nancy Saggar with West Shore RCMP in a statement . “This collision serves as a reminder that choosing to drive after consuming alcohol can have serious consequences.

We encourage everyone to plan ahead and arrange a safe ride home if they have been drinking.” West Shore RCMP is reminding drivers that impaired driving continues to be a factor in serious injury and fatal crashes across B.C. Anyone who suspects a driver may be impaired is asked to safely pull over and call 911.
