Edmonton Oilers' Draisaitl and wife Celeste show off photos from African honeymoon

Edmonton Oilers superstar Leon Draisaitl is enjoying his summer. After getting married to his longtime girlfriend, Celeste Desjardins, last summer, Draisaitl finally got around to going on a honeymoon with his new bride this past week. The happy couple opted to travel to Kenya for the trip, and it appears they got up to quite a bit. Draisaitl and Celeste attended the ol Donyo Lodge, which is described as a “one of Kenya’s most exclusive safari lodges” and is located in Chyulu Hills National Park among Africa’s great plains. The couple shared photos of the trip, and it looked like they had a blast. This isn’t the first trip that Draisaitl and Celeste have gone on this summer, as they joined teammate Connor McDavid and his wife Lauren in the Hamptons earlier this offseason. The McDavids have been busy as well, having taken a luxurious trip to Utah shortly after the Oilers’ season came to an end. The Draisaitls appeared to get up to a lot of sightseeing while in Africa, sharing photos of their close encounters with lions, giraffes, and elephants. They also took part in a helicopter ride over the region and set up a romantic dinner amidst the wildlife as well. It seemed like a lovely and unique way to spend a honeymoon. Not only did they take in the sights, but they also appeared to have mingled with some of the locals at the lodge. While professional hockey players are paid handsomely and are able to enjoy these luxurious experiences, they don’t get the chance to throughout most of the year. Most of their time is spent playing hockey, and they only get these few months in the offseason to truly unwind. The hope is that Draisaitl can make the most of his summer and return to Edmonton ready and healthy to help the Oilers make another run at the Stanley Cup.
