Eight new wildland fires — none of which are under control — confirmed today

Eight new wildland fires were confirmed in the Northeast Region today by the Ministry of Natural Resources. Wawa 17 (WAW017) is 12 hectares and is not under control.

Eight new wildland fires were confirmed in the Northeast Region today by the Ministry of Natural Resources. Wawa 17 (WAW017) is 12 hectares and is not under control. It is located about four kilometres east of White Lake.

Wawa 18 (WAW018) is a .1-hectare fire that is not under control. It is located approximately 500 metres west of White Lake. Wawa 19 (WAW019) is a .1-hectare fire on the western shore of Loonskin Lake.

It is about seven km west of Hawk Junction and is not under control. Wawa 20 (WAW020) is .8 hectares and is not under control. It is located about six km southwest of Bishop Lake.

Haliburton 22 (HAL022) is .9 of a hectare. It is located one km west of McNulty Lake. It is not under control.

North Bay 26 (NOR026) is a .3-hectare fire located southeast of MacPherson Lake. It is not under control. Timmins 22 (TIM022) is one hectare and is located four km southwest of Ant Island Lake.

It is not under control. Cochrane 41 (COC041) is one hectare and is not under control. It is located near Wellington Creek, south of Highway 11, and approximately 21 km west of Smooth Rock Falls.

There are 44 active wildland fires in the region. Nine are not under control, three are being held, four are under control and 28 are being observed.
