Imitation guns seized in attempted motel break-in

Three men are facing charges after police say they tried to break into a room at a Kitchener motel.

Three men are facing charges after police say they tried to break into a room at a Kitchener motel. It happened on Tuesday around 12:30 a.m. in the Victoria Street North area. Police were told a man with what appeared to be a gun had been spotted in the area.

When Waterloo Regional Police officers arrived at the motel, they learned three people had tried to get into a room, but had been unsuccessful. Instead, the trio hopped into a rideshare vehicle and left. Officers tracked down the vehicle and stopped the driver.

The three suspects were arrested and three imitation firearms were seized. A 22-year-old from Toronto has been charged with attempted break and enter, disguise with intent, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, obstructing a peace officer and two counts of failure to comply with release order. A 31-year-old Kitchener man was charged with attempted break and enter, disguise with intent, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of failure to comply with a release order and two counts of failure to comply with a probation order.

A 40-year-old Kitchener man was charged with attempted break and enter, disguise with intent, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and obstructing a peace officer.
