Flag-raising to kick off Pride Week in White Rock Published 5:30 am Tuesday, July 14, 2026 The Pride flag will glide to the top of the flagpole outside White Rock City Hall Friday afternoon (July 17), in the return of an annual ceremony marking the start of Pride Week. In collaboration with the White Rock Pride Society, city officials are inviting the public to gather outside 15322 Buena Vista Ave.

at 4:30 p.m. for the flag-raising, described by the mayor as “a true showcase of what it means to live in a welcoming, inclusive city for all.” “As we begin Pride Week, I’m excited to celebrate with our community and honour the resilience and spirit that make White Rock such a vibrant place to call home,” Mayor Megan Knight said in a news release. The ceremony is to include remarks from Knight, local dignitaries and Pride Society board members.

Events planned through Pride Week (July 17-24) include the Pride Ride & After Party, also set for Friday (July 17). Staging for the ride, which starts at 7 p.m., is to get underway at Centennial Park (14600 North Bluff Rd.) beginning at 6 p.m. Participants will wind through the streets of White Rock – including along North Bluff Road and Marine Drive – ultimately returning to the Centennial Arena parking lot.

The After Party follows, from 8-11 p.m. in the Peace Arch Curling Club lounge. According to information at whiterockpride.com, tickets will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis to those who indicate interest in the online registration form; there is room for a maximum of 80 attendees. “Whether you’re driving, riding along, cheering from the sidewalk, or dancing at the after party – you’re invited to be part of this joyful, all-ages event that celebrates 2SLGBTQ+ pride, visibility, and connection,” the site continues.

July 18 is White Rock Pride Family Day, a “vibrant street festival that brings people of all ages together to honour diversity, inclusion, and Pride!” Set for 11 a.m. till 4 p.m., the all-ages, family-friendly festival brings music, entertainment, a Kids Zone, vendors and more to Miramar Village Plaza, 1425 Johnston Rd.

Other events planned for Pride Week include a July 20 White Rock BIA Pride Mingler, 6 p.m. at Morrisons Café in Five Corners; the July 23 Doug & and the Slugs performance at Miramar Plaza from 7-9:30 p.m. on July 23, part of the Concerts at the Pier series; and the 7th Annual Love is Love Gala: Friday Night Fever, July 24 at Hazelmere Golf Course (18150 8 Ave.). Set for 6 p.m. till midnight, the gala – which is the Pride Society’s key fundraiser and signature event for Pride Week – includes dinner, entertainment, auctions and more.
