Highway north of Edmonton reopens after fatal crash

RCMP have confirmed a two-vehicle collision on Highway 28 near Gibbons, Alta., was fatal but has yet to reveal how many people died.

In a news release, the RCMP said officers from its Morinville detachment were called to a collision on Highway 28 between Range Road 233 and Highway 28A on Thursday afternoon. Traffic was rerouted through the town, located about 35 kilometres northeast of Edmonton.

An investigation is ongoing, but Const. Sandra Geiger, an RCMP public information officer, confirmed there were two vehicles involved and that there was at least one fatality. "We do not have the number of people confirmed at this time," she said.
