Info session July 15 for Okanagan Falls incorporation Published 5:30 pm Monday, July 13, 2026 With an election coming in the fall to appoint its inaugural mayor and council, the District of Okanagan Falls will have an information session online and in-person on July 15. The Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen is hosting the information session from 6:30 p.m. until 8 at the Okanagan Falls Community Recreation Centre on Cedar Street. The meeting will also be held at the same time online through Webex by using the link rdos.webex.com/rdos/j.php?MTID=m37e3c2fbcab2ff5fd3bdae5b7838bd29.

The password for the online session is RD@S. Residents will be presented with an update on the incorporation process, including the anticipated timelines, and will be able to ask current RDOS Okanagan Falls and area Director Matt Taylor and RDOS CAO Jim Zaffino questions about the future of the community. Okanagan Falls will become a formally established municipality following the October general election, with the first meeting of its new council to finish the process on Nov. 6. The new council will be composed of a mayor and four councillors.

The costs for holding the election, alongside other costs for establishing the community, will be covered with $1.8 million in funding from the provincial government. The province and RDOS will also continue to operate several services until the new municipality is fully established. These include water and sewage for the next three years, road maintenance for the next five years, and other municipal services for the first year of incorporation.
