Interest builds in Social Services election

Three candidates in running for two positions representing Algoma North

When voters elect councillors for area municipalities this fall, they'll also choose two candidates to represent Algoma North on the District of Sault Ste. Marie Social Services Administration Board. There are now three candidates vying to represent 31 unincorporated townships as far north as Montreal River.

SooToday has previously mentioned the candidacies of Drew Craig and Shauna DiGasparro. The latest candidate to file nomination papers is Anna Foat, a patient educator with OntarioMD and a former board member of Sault Area Hospital. This year's civic elections will take place on Monday, Oct. 26.

The deadline to file or withdraw a nomination is Friday, Aug. 21.
