iOS 27 Public Beta is Now Available for iPhone Apple has launched the public beta program for iOS 27, making the upcoming iPhone operating system available as a beta to all interested users. Beta system software tends to be buggier and less refined than final versions, and is generally best reserved for advanced users, but the public beta is fairly stable, and made available for anyone curious enough to run the new iOS 27 release ahead of the fall release. iOS 27 includes significant performance improvements, refinements to the Liquid Glass user interface including a slider to adjust the intensity, new Siri AI features and capabilities, new Apple Intelligence features, improvements to Spotlight, and many other smaller tweaks and refinements to the iPhone operating system.
The iOS 27 public beta matches the iOS 27 developer beta build, so if you’re already running iOS 27 dev beta there is no reason to switch to the public beta. Additionally, iPadOS 27 public beta for iPad, and MacOS 27 Golden Gate public beta for Mac, are also available. How to Get the iOS 27 Public Beta on iPhone Now You will need an iPhone compatible with iOS 27, which basically any iPhone that can run iOS 26 will also run iOS 27 (alas, iPadOS 27 is not as forgiving).
You’ll also want to backup your iPhone to a computer, and to iCloud, before installing the beta updates: - Back up your device first! - Go to https://beta.apple.com/ to sign up for the public beta with your Apple ID on your device - Then go to “Settings” app, then to “General” and to “Software Update” - Choose “Beta Updates” and select “iOS 27 Public Beta” - Choose to download and install the iOS 27 public beta on your iPhone Your iPhone will restart to finish installation, and you’ll be running iOS 27 public beta when it boots back up.
All future iOS 27 public beta releases will be made available through Software Update, and you can update directly to the final version when it is made available later in the year. The new Siri AI features are part of iOS 27, but require an iPhone 15 Pro or newer, and you must join the Siri AI waitlist (Settings > Siri) before you will have access to those features. Apple has said the final version of iOS 27 will be released this fall.
