SANDRA M STANWAY Brooks Bulletin With a tip of the hat to the hometown cowboys and cowgirls junior and senior high school rodeo provincials have wrapped, junior have completed nationals and high school competitors are set to follow next weekend. In May Alberta athletes competed in the Junior High School provincials at the Rimbey Agrim Centre. The top athletes advanced to nationals at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Oklahoma between June 21 and 27.

The area’s junior high athletes who competed at provincials were Brant Beasley from Patricia, Teagann Finkbeiner, Maddie Finkbeiner from Wardlow, Style Finnerty from Duchess, Jorga Griffith, Riber Griffith from Cessford, Rhett Johnson from Brooks, Kooper Kusler from Duchess, Mier McNiven from Duchess, and Zane Rasmuson from Jenner. Local athletes at provincials were Brodi Beasley from Patricia, William Hale from Bassano, Hayden Mulvey from Cassils, Rayne Van Hal of Scandia, Roper Webb from Duchess and Piper Yule of Wardlow. Advancing to the 2026 National High School Finals Rodeo (NHSFR) July 19-25 at the Sandhills Global Event Centre in Lincoln, Nebraska are Beasley for bull riding, Hale for in saddle bronc and Van Hal for barrel racing.
