The Kankakee County Board took some of the early steps in getting four bridges around the county replaced on Tuesday, signing engineering agreements with Gonzalez Companies, and Hampton, Lenzini & Renwick for the design phase. Gonzalez Companies will be designing two replacement bridges on County Highway 53 in St. Anne and Pembroke Townships, east of St. Anne, at a cost of $149,862. Hampton, Lenzini & Renwick will be designing a bridge replacement on County Highway 54 in Ganeer Township for $85,660 and another on County Highway 44 in Bourbonnais Township for the same cost of $85,660.
The funding for the work on Hampton, Lenzini & Renwick’s projects will come out of the motor fuel tax fund, while the funding for the Gonzalez Companies project will come out of the county bridge fund.
