Lake Babine Nations breaks ground on new learning centre Published 11:35 am Wednesday, July 15, 2026 Lake Babine Nation Forestry Services LP broke ground on its new learning centre on July 6. Named Nadut’en Dijakh Wighidleeh Beyikh, meaning “the house where Nadut’en takes care of its forestry,” the future campus will offer Lake Babine Nation students the ability to obtain recognized credentials within the community. Lake Babine Nation Chief Wilf Adam said the area will be the learning hub for for the nation for generations to come “It is important to recognize this day ...

Before, the governments used to take care of our business. In terms of forestry, we had absolutely no say in what happens in our territory. But, that is slowly changing,” he said.

“We will be part of what happens in our forest, and the way to do that is [by building] a learning centre that will help the young people in our territory to look after the land a lot better than what has happened in the past ... we will make sure that our territory is taken care of, not by the generation that is here now, but in the future,” Adam continued. “It’s for the future generations to come.” The new facility will be constructed in the Woyenne community, at the corner of Centre Street and Sus Avenue.

Construction is expected to be complete by March 31, 2027.
