Young 4-H members will be showcasing their learning this weekend

Langley 4-H clubs active at Aldegrove fair Published 5:45 pm Monday, July 13, 2026 The Aldergrove Fair gives young people a chance to share what they have spent months learning about animals, agriculture, and hands-on skills. From July 17 to 19, members of the Woodlands 4-H Club will take part in the fair through educational displays, demonstrations and public speaking, highlighting projects they have worked on throughout the year.

Emily Bradbury, who has been involved with the Langley-based club for seven years and has served as club president for the past year, said 4-H teaches far more than just caring for animals. “We learn about agriculture, leadership, communication, and all of those important things,” Bradbury said. “We get to attend local fairs and show off all of those things that we’ve learned.”

Bradbury said the fair is also an opportunity for members to connect with the public, other farmers, and agricultural organizations. The Woodlands 4-H Club offers projects in dogs, sheep, horses, veterinary science, and rabbits. Bradbury, who grew up on a five-acre farm with horses, has spent much of her time in the horse project but recently began exploring the sheep program.

Across B.C., 4-H offers programs for children and young adults. Cloverbud members, ages six to eight, focus on teamwork and fun, while youth ages nine to 19 complete one to four hands-on projects each year. Senior members, ages 20 and 21, can continue through advanced project management and leadership opportunities.

Projects vary based on members’ interests and can include raising animals, growing gardens or creating photography displays, with each project completed through a series of learning units over the year.
