Kicking Horse Culture’s Summer Kicks concert series has officially returned to Golden for another summer. As of July 1, performances at Keith King Memorial Park are once again bringing live music to the community. While there have already been a few shows in Parson and Blaeberry, the Canada Day performance marked the first concert at Keith King Memorial Park this season.

The free concert series has been entertaining Golden residents since the early 2000s and has become a summer tradition for many. Increasingly, it feels like no matter how you choose to spend a summer day in town, there is a cost. Whether it is dinner out, a tank of gas to reach a scenic destination, or admission to a local attraction, enjoying the season can quickly become expensive.

That is what makes the Summer Kicks concerts so special. Free and open to everyone, they offer a chance to enjoy live music, connect with the community, and spend an evening outdoors without spending a dime. The lineup this summer includes a series of touring artists accompanied by local performers.

The remaining summer schedule is as follows: • July 22: Waleed Kush Afro-Jazz, with Colin Shields. • July 29 : Madeleine Roger • Aug. 5: Cousin Harley, with Whiskey Jack. •

Aug. 12: Tim Sars Band, with Jubilee Mountain. • Aug. 19: Miesha and the Spanks, with Nathan Turner & the Echo Rangers.

This is also the first year the program has expanded into Area A, with the Honky Tonk Collective performing at Hillside Lodge & Chalets and the Dixie Fried Hep Katz playing at Parson Park. If you are looking for an affordable way to spend a summer evening, bring a blanket or a few folding chairs and head to Keith King Memorial Park on Wednesday nights.
