The rustic, Toronto-area home that was featured in the original production of the beloved television series “Gilmore Girls,” is now on the market for $3.88 million. The house, where Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham) lived with her teen daughter Rory (Alexis Bledel), appeared in the show’s pilot episode before the rest of the series was shot at the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank, Calif. The Realtor.ca listing for 31 Victoria Ave., which sits in Unionville, Ont., a hamlet of Markham that’s around 30 kilometres northeast of Toronto, describes the property as an “iconic” heritage home.

“(A) truly one-of-a-kind residence circa 1875 where timeless architecture, rich history, and modern comfort come together,” the posting read. The listing says the house is set on a “private, tree-lined lot overlooking the ravine and river,” adding that it’s steps away from “boutique shops, fine dining, cafes and spas.” The two-storey home is about 2,840 square feet, featuring three bedrooms and four bathrooms, according to the listing.

The property also has a restored, detached heritage building, which measures at 550 square feet and served as a village bakery between 1910 to 1984. Preserved architectural details include a wrap-around veranda, original pine floors, two staircases, a wet bar, three fireplaces, as well as walkouts to the backyard and patio. Fans of the show, which aired from 2000 to 2007, can tour spots where the pilot episode was filmed on Main Street in Unionville.

According to Destination Markham, Unionville’s quaint location inspired the look and feel of the fictional Connecticut town of Stars Hallow. The show’s Taylor’s Olde Fashioned Soda Shoppe was inspired by Unionville’s Old Firehall Confectionery, according to the website. Producers also filmed aerial and street footage of Main Street Unionville, including the red brick church that’s shown in the opening shot of the show, according to Destination Markham.
