There is an open invitation to celebrate Ajax’s hometown soccer star at Derek Cornelius Square. The Town of Ajax and Medallion Corporation are hosting a special community meet and greet with Cornelius at the place named in his honour. Fresh off representing Team Canada on the international stage, Cornelius is returning home to thank the Ajax community for its unwavering support and to recognize the Town’s tribute of temporarily renaming Pat Bayly Square in his honour.

You are invited to meet Derek Cornelius, celebrate his accomplishments and welcome him home on Sunday, July 19, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Derek Cornelius Square (55 Bayly Street West.) The free event offers the community an opportunity to connect with Cornelius, celebrate his achievements and recognize the pride he continues to bring to Ajax through his success on and off the field. “Derek has inspired our community through his hard work, perseverance and commitment to excellence.
