Oceanside Repair Café set for July 25 in Qualicum Beach Published 5:35 am Wednesday, July 15, 2026 The Oceanside Repair Café will hold its summer event in Qualicum Beach on July 25 in the afternoon, rather than the usual morning time.

The event will take place at St. Stephen’s United Church hall, located at 150 Village Way from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., according to a news release. It offers free assessment and repair services to all area residents, as well as visitors who may be renting a holiday space locally. “Our experience is that summer brings so many people to the Farmer’s Market in the morning, and with tourism, parking can be hard to find,” said Jacqueline Webster, volunteer co-ordinator.

The aim of the repair café is to promote repairing and reusing, rather than throwing goods away, or buying new things. “You can save money, as well as contribute to an economy that consumes less, manufactures less, and wastes less,” said Webster. “We hope people will have an opportunity to pick up some repair skills, as well.”

Local skilled volunteers will be on hand to help repair appliances, small electronics, lamps, antique (and regular) clocks, tech items such as computers and phones, furniture and woodworking and children’s toys. And you can bring in those favourite (clean) shirts, jeans or jackets you have been meaning to get mended. People are encouraged to bring supplies that may be needed for the repair, such as a zipper or a special part and batteries.

Used pens and batteries can be brought in for recycling. Attendees are invited to watch and learn from repairers, while enjoying free coffee, tea, muffins and cookies supplied by the “café” on site. “It’s an opportunity for people to come together, socialize, and learn from each other,” said Webster.
