Gananoque Police are investigating a “sudden death” on Sunday after the body of a deceased individual was found in the water. Police say officers responded to the Gananoque River after a body was discovered by paddlers near Black Bridge at approximately 11 a.m. The body was recovered from the river with assistance from firefighters and the Ontario Provincial Police, according to Gananoque Police in a news release.
An investigation is underway with the coroner’s office to determine the identity of the individual and notify next of kin. The cause of the person’s death is unknown. “At this time, no further information will be released,” police say.
