Province backs $1.7 million manufacturing investment in Tecumseh's Hawk Plastics

Hawk Plastics hopes to increase production capacity at the facility, reducing the need for outsourced manufacturing

Sixteen new jobs are coming to Windsor following a $1.7-million joint investment between the Ontario government and Tecumseh’s Hawk Plastics. The funding will go towards a new 1,100-tonne injection moulding press, upgrading existing infrastructure such as a loading dock, a chiller and cooling tower, improving hydro service and relocating an existing silo. Hawk Plastics hopes to increase production capacity at the facility, reducing the need for outsourced manufacturing.

“This funding represents much more than a financial investment. It is an investment in people, innovation, and the future of manufacturing in Ontario,” said Michael Semande, director of operations at Hawk Plastics. “It will help us strengthen our operations, invest in new technologies, and most importantly, create well–paying jobs right here in our community.”

Representatives from Hawk Plastics and MPP Andrew Dowie’s team gathered at the Oldcastle plant for the announcement. In addition to the company’s $1,696,300 investment, the province is providing $254,445 through the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund. “This investment by Hawk Plastics is a vote of confidence in our region’s manufacturing future, helping to spur innovation, expand operations and create more good-paying jobs for local workers and their families,” said MPP for Windsor-Tecumseh Andrew Dowie.
