The incident allegedly occurred in Richmond in 2025.
A Richmond RCMP officer has been charged with two counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm. Const. Beyond Xi, 28, has been charged in Richmond Provincial Court and will have their first appearance on Aug. 4 for driving offences that allegedly occurred in July 2025.
The charges stem from an incident whereby a police cruiser was responding to a call eastbound on Williams Road when it was involved in a crash with a Honda Ridgeline at the intersection of No. 4 Road. The driver of the Ridgeline, two pedestrians, a resident of a neighbouring home as well as Xi were all taken to hospital with injuries. This prompted an investigation by the Independent Investigations Office and it was then referred to the BC Prosecution Service for charge assessment.
“The charges were approved by an experienced Crown counsel who has no connection with the accused,” reads the media release from the prosecution service. The Richmond News has reached out to RCMP for more information. 📣 Got an opinion on this story or any others in Richmond?
