Record Staff In a press release at 1 p.m. today (Tuesday, July 14), the City of Sherbrooke warned of a violent weather system that could pose a tornado risk in the Sherbrooke area. The forecast conditions could bring heavy rain, hail, and wind gusts reaching 100 to 110 km/h. The Sherbrooke Municipal Civil Protection Organization (OMSC) is on alert and working closely with emergency services and partners to ensure public safety.

Municipal teams are mobilized and ready to respond as needed. Measures are being taken to minimize the impact on residents. Outdoor swimming pools are currently closed as a precautionary measure.

Residents are encouraged to take the necessary steps to be prepared for a potential emergency: Keep an emergency kit stocked for at least 72 hours. Make sure you have drinking water, non-perishable food, medications, and essential items. Charge cell phones and electronic devices whenever possible.

Make sure every family member knows the instructions to follow. Pay special attention to children, seniors, and people with special needs. Limit your travel as much as possible.

Do not travel to affected areas. Keep roads clear for emergency vehicles. Obey roadblocks and detours.
