The PlayStation Store on PS6 will reportedly block access for an absolutely massive number of players around the world, as many countries don’t have access to PSN, which poses a real problem for players in those countries. Sony recently announced that it would be stopping physical disc production of games after 2028. Which means that the PS6 is going to be an all-digital console with no option to buy or play physical games on it.

Players haven’t been happy about this announcement, and have taken to social media to voice their frustrations over this decision. Many in the gaming community have called for Sony to reverse its decision, with some even going so far as to call on regulators to lean on Sony for this future practice. In a recent survey, thousands of PlayStation gamers have said they’re heavily considering switching to PC with the loss of physical games.

In other words, PlayStation fans are pretty upset about the removal of physical games as an option. Of course, none are probably more upset than the players in countries will essentially lose access to PlayStation games entirely once 2028 rolls around. The PS6 will block access to PlayStation games for around 122 countries According to new reports, the PS6, which is suspected to be all-digital given Sony’s recent announcement, will likely block access to games once this decision goes into effect.

That’s because digital games will have to be purchased from the PlayStation Store, and there are around 122 countries that don’t have access to that. This would basically lock out players in those countries from ever buying new games, which would make the PS6 a useless console in those regions. There are still plenty of unknowns here.

The PS6 may actually feature a disc drive to allow for playing older physical copies of games. But any new all-digital titles would more or less be a no-go. As pointed out by a user on Reddit, PSN is not available in countries like Georgia.

This has led players in those countries to get around the lack of the PS Store by creating accounts from other countries where it’s available. Still, some fear that their accounts and their entire game libraries may be at risk if Sony ever decides to crack down on this practice.
