Surrey council voting on $6M in public works contracts Published 3:15 pm Monday, July 13, 2026 Surrey council will vote on $6,068,803.65 in public works contracts tonight (July 13) with all the work to be done in the city’s north end. Council will vote on a $1,689,448.95 contract for Jack Cewe Construction Ltd. for 1,830 metres of new and improved sidewalks at five locations in North Surrey, including three new crosswalks. These include sidewalk improvements at 96 Avenue from 120 Street to 126 Street, on 130 Street from 106 Avenue to 108 Avenue, and 92 Avenue from 160 Street to 162 Street (including a new crosswalk) and 102 Avenue from 140 Street to 141 Street as well as new crosswalks on 102 Avenue, 139 Street to 139A Street.
The work, if the contract is approved, is expected to expected to begin in August and be complete by October, with construction permitted between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Council will also vote on a $1,913,159.85 contract for Crown Contracting Ltd. for 144 Street “active transportation improvements” between 100 Avenue and 104 Avenue. “The construction package related to this contract consists of constructing a multi-use pathway and roadway lighting along 144 Street between 100 Avenue and 104 Avenue,” Scott Neuman, Surrey’s general manager of engineering, noted in a corporate report.
If the contract is approved, the work is expected to begin in August and be done by November, with construction permitted between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Moreover, council is voting tonight on awarding a $2,466,194.85 contract to Complete Utility Contractors Ltd. for sanitary sewer improvements at four locations in North Surrey. “The construction package related to this contract consists of sanitary sewer improvements to support growth and to replacing aging and undersized infrastructure,” Neuman explained in a corporate report.
The work will be at 57 Avenue and 177B Street, 124 Street from 98 Avenue to 99 Avenue, and 99 Avenue from 124 Street to 124A Street as well as lanes east and west of 128 Street and north of 96B Avenue and on Regal Drive from River Road to the 11300 block. “Sanitary improvements on 124 Street near Cedar Hills Elementary School will take place when school is not in session,” Neuman said. Otherwise the contract work, if approved, is expected to start in August and be finished by November, weather permitting, with construction permitted between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
