Talk to Spotify: New AI Assistant Launches, Excludes Canada for Now Spotify is testing a new way for subscribers to interact with their music library by introducing a conversational voice and text assistant. The feature, called Talk to Spotify, is rolling out in a beta phase to select markets right now. The streaming giant announced the update on Tuesday, explaining that eligible users can now have back-and-forth conversations with the app.

Listeners can type or speak directly to Spotify to change the music, learn about specific tracks, and look up details about podcasts or audiobooks. The beta is currently restricted to Premium subscribers who are at least 18 years old and living in the United States, Ireland, or Sweden. Yes, that means Canada is missing out for now.

With this new tool, users can ask the app to perform specific tasks. For example, you can say, “Play some artists I haven’t heard before,” and then follow up by asking to narrow the selection or make it more upbeat. The assistant can also answer questions about your listening history, such as asking when you first listened to your favourite song or what genres you have been enjoying lately.

Because the feature is still in its beta phase, Spotify said that responses may not always be perfect. The company is using the initial rollout to gather feedback and refine how the assistant behaves before expanding it to more regions. If you can’t resist talking to AI chatbots and want to do it within Spotify, this might be the feature you’ve been waiting for.

No word on when it will expand to Canada, but it should in the near future.
