To repair your LCD Steam Deck it’s been a pretty simple process for a while, as iFixit has been the official online retailer where owners could go to get repair kits, repair tools, and anything they might need to fix up their handheld. Provided there was available stock, of course. And while there has been stock of most or all parts for a while, that’s changing.

Valve is reportedly sunsetting the repair parts for the LCD Steam Deck, which means iFixit will no longer be carrying those official parts. The Steam Deck is now more than four years old, and Valve has replaced it with the OLED model. Valve is also suspected to be working on the second generation model of the Steam Deck.

Though that may not be available for a while yet. Especially given the memory crisis that has impacted Steam Machine availability and the prices of the OLED model Steam Deck. It’s worth noting that iFixit is not the only place to get replacement parts for the LCD Steam Deck.

However, it was the official retailer for OEM parts, meaning you knew you were getting parts that were directly from Valve. iFixit may end up restocking LCD Steam Deck repair parts from other sources According to reporting from Video Cardz, a user who was searching for replacement parts at iFixit for their LCD Steam Deck received a response from the company informing them of their out of stock status. The user was trying to get a replacement battery, and was told that iFixit wasn’t sure if it would be able to restock the item officially from Valve’s OEM parts.

However, iFixit also confirmed that it was looking into alternative sources for replacement parts. So, there will still potentially be a chance to use iFixit for all your LCD Steam Deck repair needs. It’s also worth noting that more OEM stock could still come through.

Valve has reduced the production. But it doesn’t appear that it has stopped completely yet. That being said, iFixit does state that it has no timeline on restocks.
