Bring your imagination and share your talents — all ages are welcome. From June 15 to 30, drop by the library anytime to pick up your small canvas (one per person), then submit your art by July 11. The completed art pieces will be showcased at the George Mackie Library July 12 through Aug. 28, with a wrap-up celebration from 3-4 p.m. on the final day — come meet fellow makers, enjoy snacks and refreshments, and pick up your artwork.
• Sock Hop (50+): July 16, 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Kennedy Seniors Recreation Centre, 11760 88th Ave.; Come enjoy the music of the ’50s and ’60s with Greg Hampton! Dress up in your favorite ’50s/’60s style.

• Ozobot STEAM Adventure: July 21, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at George Mackie Library, 8440 112th St.; Explore, create and discover with Ozobots! This fun, free hands-on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) drop-in program gives children the opportunity to engage with technology, creativity and learning through guided activities in a welcoming and supportive library environment.

Youth BBQ: July 22, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Sungod Recreation Centre, 7815 112th St.; Join the City of Delta for an epic day of fun, food, and friendly competition! Youth ages 10-18 are invited to an event packed with tasty eats, cool drinks, live music, and a high-energy 3-on-3 basketball tournament. Bring your game, your friends, and your appetite — this is one summer event you don’t want to miss!

Join us as we listen, watch, and learn all about unique animals that share our planet. In the second half of the program, take part in a hands-on experience with snakes, lizards, a tortoise, and maybe even a tarantula! This free drop-in program is for all ages.
• Concerts in the Park: Delta Concert Band: July 28, 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Sunshine Hills Elementary, 11285 Bond Blvd.; Bands have been providing concerts for the citizens of Delta since the 1800s. The Delta Concert Band (formerly the Delta Community Band) has been carrying on this musical tradition ever since its first concert in May of 1965.
The DCB has also represented Delta throughout the Lower Mainland, in our province, as well as in Hawaii, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, England and Scotland. Though primarily composed of adult-age musicians, we invite qualified, secondary school band students to play in the DCB for free. We also lend support to Delta’s school band students and directors via coaching sessions and shared concerts.
• Ocean Wise: Wonderful Whales: July 31, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at George Mackie Library, 8440 112th St.; Celebrate Summer Reading Club with Ocean Wise! Join us for a family-friendly presentation all about whales, the ocean, and the amazing animals that call the Pacific coast home.
During the first half, families will enjoy a 20-minute interactive presentation exploring why whales are so important to ocean health, why they hold deep cultural significance for many Indigenous nations across Canada, and how we can all help protect them from threats like noise pollution, overfishing and vessel strikes. Then, children and families will get hands-on with Ocean Wise educators at our Marine Mammals and Pacific Northwest artifact stations. Explore real ocean-inspired artifacts, ask questions, and discover the incredible connections between whales, marine life, and healthy ocean ecosystems.
Come ready to wonder, learn, and make a splash for whales. This free drop-in program is for all ages. •
Delta Ukulele Circle: Aug. 1, 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at North Delta Centre for the Arts, 11425 84th Ave.; Led by Gary Cyr, the Delta Ukulele Circle is an enthusiastic, welcoming and supportive crowd of music lovers with an appreciation for the ukulele. This tiny instrument provides a unique opportunity for individuals wanting to play and enjoy music together with others in a very social setting. More information can be found at deltaukes.com.
Registration is $5 at cityofdelta.perfectmind.com. • Delta Community Animal Expo: Aug. 9, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Memorial Park, 5010 47th Ave.; The Delta Community Animal Shelter, alongside FortisBC, proudly presents the 2026 Delta Community Animal Expo at Ladner Memorial Park.
Bring your leashed, friendly dog(s), check out the local vendors and pet organizations, and participate in games and contests including the Poop Through the Hoop Contest, Rubber Ducky Relay, and others. There will also be demonstrations in dog agility, training, and scent tracking with Delta Police, all while enjoying the food trucks and learning about amazing animals and pets for adoption. This annual event provides a fun-filled experience for the whole family while raising awareness and funds for the Tollie Fund, which enables the shelter to go above and beyond by providing veterinary care, behaviour rehabilitation, and other essential support to help Delta’s shelter animals find healthy, successful adoptions.

Aug. 13, 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at George Mackie Library, 8440 112th St. Celebrate Summer Reading Club with ventriloquist Kellie Haines, with puppets Magrau the mischievous bird and Kamilla, a frog with red hair, as they sing, dance and discover that reading is more than an adventure in this hilarious musical show celebrating reading and play. This free drop-in program is for all ages. •
Concerts in the Park: Ranj Singh: Aug. 13, 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at North Delta Social Heart Plaza, 11405 84th Ave.; Ranj Singh is an award-winning international touring and recording artist.
In the ’90s, Ranj helped form the “bhangra rock” group Dal Dil Vog. The group went on to win numerous awards and shared the stage with artists such as 54-40, Colin James and Mathew Good. Other notable venues performed at include Roy Thomson Hall, Vancouver Folk Fest, Seattle Folk Fest, Oregon County Fair, Hard Rock Café Toronto and more.
Lately, Ranj has been working hard, performing over 300 shows a year as a solo artist, and has opened for Honeymoon Suite and, just recently, Jann Arden with his band The Discriminators. With a unique voice accompanied by his two alternate-tuned 12-string guitars, Ranj’s genre of Indo-folk music is a melodic and soothing combination of subtle Indian melodies, classic pop/rock covers and originals. With three albums under his belt, Ranj is at the top of his game.
• 8th Annual Delta Pride Picnic: Aug. 16, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Memorial Park, 5010 47th Ave.; The Delta Pride Society is excited to invite you to our 8th Annual Delta Pride Picnic on Sunday, Aug, 16 at Memorial Park in Ladner! What began as a grassroots initiative to fill a gap of diversity celebration and representation in Delta has grown every year into larger joyous family-friendly event.
Expect music, live performances, food trucks, community partners, resource booths, vendors, activities, crafts & games. C’mon out with your sunscreen, picnic basket, blanket or chairs; wear your best Pride attire; bring cash to tip our amazing performers; and come hungry to eat from the amazing food trucks. We can’t wait to share this beautiful day with you!
To make the picnic a success, we’re looking for volunteers to help with a variety of roles. Whether you can spare an hour or stay for a larger portion of the day, we’d love to have you on our team. Volunteer opportunities include: stage decorating crew (Saturday, 12:30-1:30 p.m.), event set-up crew (Sunday, 9 a.m.), games crew helpers, beading and craft table helpers, and take-down crew (Sunday, starting at 4 p.m.).

The Amazing World of Bats: Aug. 20, 7:15 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Douglas J. Husband Discovery Centre, 4450 Clarence Taylor Cres.; Come out for an extraordinary night of bat education and fun. Bats are very important animals that are feared and misunderstood by many. The night will start with a presentation discussing general facts about bats, bat habitat, where the best locations are to watch bats at night, how to minimize a bat encounter if you have bats feeding or roosting on your property, and ways to support and help local bat populations.
This hour long presentation will be followed by a stroll through Ladner Habour Park, where you will be able to watch and hear bats in their natural habitat. During the walk, we will discuss echolocation and how to safely watch bats. Please wear close toed shoes, pants and long sleeves for the walk, and bring bug spray.

This night is for all of us; whether you are running a local business, navigating a career change, dedicated to raising your family, enjoying retirement, or simply looking to meet new friends and make connections in the neighborhood, you belong here. No matter your age, stage of life, or background, this space is open to you. The evening will feature an inspiring mini-panel and an interactive live Q&A with panelists Megan Hughes (Tsawwassen entrepreneur and founder of Willow Oak Business Consulting), Trish Arato (renowned gemologist and custom jeweler) and Jennyfer Cassar (executive director and founder of the Delta Women’s Network), led by moderator Hermina Khara (Delta local and HR expert from Odgers Canada).
