Man has critical injuries after being hit by transit bus in Surrey

The collision was at the intersection of 128th Street and 96th Avenue shortly after 9:30 p.m. Saturday

A man has “potentially life-threatening” injuries after being hit by a transit bus in Surrey. Shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, the Surrey Police Service was called about a seriously injured pedestrian at the intersection of 128th Street and 96th Avenue. When officers arrived, the man was being treated by B.C. Emergency Health Service paramedics.

A Coast Mountain bus driver was on scene. The adult male who had been hit was taken to hospital with “critical, potentially life-threatening injuries,” said Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton in a statement.

The cause of the crash is not known. The intersection was closed for several hours overnight but has reopened. Anyone who saw the collision or has information or dashcam footage is asked to call police at 604-599-0502.
