The Government of Canada announced Sept. 8, 2026, in Surrey that businesses in British Columbia can apply through PacifiCan for the enhanced Regional Tariff Response Initiative.
Eligible businesses can access up to $3 million in non-repayable support. That includes up to $2 million for liquidity support and up to $1 million for projects to pivot their operations.
Repayable support of more than $1 million is available to businesses undertaking larger transformation projects, according to Pacific Economic Development Canada.
The government said the expanded initiative is intended to help businesses manage liquidity pressures, adapt to changing market conditions, improve competitiveness and diversify into new markets.
The Regional Tariff Response Initiative provides $3.45 billion over four years to support businesses affected by tariffs, the government said.
Gregor Robertson, minister responsible for Pacific Economic Development Canada, announced the expanded program and said it includes new non-repayable liquidity support for businesses in British Columbia.
“B.C. businesses are the backbone of our economy, and many are facing real pressures from tariffs and trade uncertainty,” Robertson said. “Through the enhanced Regional Tariff Response Initiative, the Government of Canada is providing new, non-repayable liquidity support to help businesses strengthen supply chains, improve productivity, and pursue new market opportunities.”
