The Canadian Coast Guard has issued a media advisory for a keel-laying ceremony for the polar icebreaker Canadian Coast Guard Ship Imnaryuaq.
The ceremony is scheduled for Oct. 14, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. PDT at Vancouver Seaspan Shipyards, 2 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver, British Columbia, according to the Canadian Coast Guard media advisory.
Jill McKnight, Minister of Veterans Affairs, is scheduled to attend on behalf of David J. McGuinty, Minister of National Defence. Braeden Caley, Member of Parliament for North Vancouver—Capilano, Kevin Brosseau, Commissioner of the Canadian Coast Guard, and community members are also scheduled to attend.
A media availability and photo opportunity is scheduled to follow remarks. Media registration is required by Oct. 13, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. PDT, and registered media are instructed to arrive at 9:30 a.m. PDT.
