Free event invites residents to explore Island View Beach in Central Saanich Published 11:30 am Thursday, July 16, 2026 Celebrate life on the beach with CRD Regional Parks naturalists, Indigenous cultural programmer and special guest organizations at Island View. The park in Central Saanich has a long sandy beach for exploring, picnicking, and swimming, features dune, wetland and shrub ecosystems, and is home to numerous resident and migratory bird species, and many fragile plants. On July 29, the CRD hosts a free event featuring games, crafts, activities and more to create connections with the creatures that call this beach home.

The day includes two guided walks that feature Indigenous perspectives and invite guests to become caretakers for future generations. Be prepared to get your feet wet on the first beach walk. The second will be on the accessible beach trail.

Tents will be set up along the gravel path and in the grassy field. The beach is wheelchair accessible on the mobi-mat. An accessible washroom is available near the parking lot.

There are two accessible parking stalls. Only guide and service animals are allowed at the event. Island View Beach allows for dogs to pass through on leash.
