Newspaper of record for Nunavut, and the Nunavik territory of Quebec
Glazing fish in Igloolik Presley Amarualik brushes Arctic char with a glaze his father Richard Amarualik made. Richard said the fish was marinated, smoked with wood chips and glazed on July 13 before his family enjoyed the delicacy. Presley has watched his father smoke fish before, but this was his first go at helping.
Igloolik residents are also drying char for pissi, and Richard said, “I guess our method is more complicated and time consuming, but well worth it.” (Photo courtesy of Richard Amarualik)
