Veteran Bollywood actor Govinda is set to return to the big screen with Roopa , marking his comeback to cinema nearly seven years after his last theatrical release. The actor announced the project during a recent press conference, where he also introduced newcomer Rani Swarnkar, who will star opposite him. Govinda will not only play the lead role but will also produce the film.

Speaking about his return after a prolonged absence from the big screen, Govinda reflected on being repeatedly written off during his career. He said people had often assumed that he would no longer appear in films, but he continued to find ways to start again. The actor expressed hope that Roopa would achieve the vision he has for the project and create a strong impact on audiences.

Govinda said the film is especially aimed at younger viewers and is intended to encourage them to dream and believe that their ambitions can become reality. The actor also spoke about his long-standing belief in astrology and numerology, highlighting the significance of the number 14 in his personal and professional life. According to Govinda, he began believing in numerology at the age of 14 and later signed 14 films in a single week, an achievement he associates with the beginning of roughly 14 years of superstardom.

He also noted that he served as a Member of Parliament in India’s 14th Lok Sabha and later experienced what he described as a 14-year period of professional struggle before returning to films. A major star of Hindi cinema during the 1990s, Govinda became known for his comic timing, energetic dance performances and memorable roles across comedy, romance and family dramas. He was last seen on the big screen in the 2019 film Rangeela Raja , in which he played a double role.
