Thousands turn out for inaugural strawberry festival in Surrey Published 6:00 pm Tuesday, July 14, 2026 Thousands of people attended the inaugural Strawberry Festival on Saturday (July 11), which was a celebration of the legacy of Surrey’s Strawberry Hills neighbourhood. “In the early 1900s, Japanese Canadian farming families settled the agricultural uplands of what is now Strawberry Hill and built the region’s strawberry industry.

The Strawberry Festival is a celebration of that legacy — and of the vibrant, multicultural neighbourhood that carries it forward today,” reads a press release about the event. The free festival ran from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in a parking lot at Strawberry Hills shopping centre. It featured over 30 vendors from various non-profits, an artisan market and buisnesses, a bouncy castle, live entertainment and free strawberries.

Attendees were also given free strawberries from a local farm. Headliners included Channi Nattan and Inderpal Moga.
