Foothills communities hosting festivals this weekend

Longview's Little New York Daze and Bragg Creek Days offer family-friendly fun in a small-town setting.

Two smaller Foothills communities are hosting their annual summer festivals this weekend. Longview's Little New York Daze and Bragg Creek Days will both run July 18-19. The highlight of Little New York Daze will be a parade through the main drag of the village at 10 a.m. on Saturday, which will be followed by all kinds of activities in Centennial Park, including a market, games, BBQ and beer garden, and live music by Mark Parsons.

A fire hall dinner and fireworks round out Saturday’s schedule. Sunday’s lineup includes the debut of Battle of the Bands along with a church service in the park, show and shine, and beer garden. More details can be found on the festival’s Facebook page here.

Bragg Creek Days also features a parade, a hamlet hallmark since 1967, which takes place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Saturday's schedule also includes a pancake breakfast, outdoor market, live music, beer gardens, pie eating contests, pony rides, and more. Sunday will see some new additions to the event, including the Cowboy Trail Car Club's Show and Shine, RC Crawler Race, and an automotive skills challenge.
